FANUC Olympics in Lisses
The Béziers University Institute of Technology and its Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence ranked 7th out of 66 teams

A team of students from the Béziers University Institute of Technology (IUT) enrolled in the ROB&IA professional bachelor’s degree program distinguished themselves from March 10 to 12 during the 2026 FANUC Olympiads, a national competition focused on industrial robotics and automation. Held in Lisses, the event brought together 66 teams from across France.
In its first appearance, the Béziers team finished in 7th place overall. The challenges involved programming and operating industrial robots in scenarios similar to those encountered in the industry.
In the two-year post-secondary category, most of the participating teams came from BTS programs and training centers specializing in industrial trades. Thirteen IUTs also took part in the competition. The IUT in Béziers was the only one to make it into the top ten of the final rankings.
A notable contribution from the University of Montpellier’s IUTs
Several University Institutes of Technology (IUTs) affiliated with the University of Montpellier participated in this year’s FANUC Olympiad. In the bachelor’s degree category, the IUT in Nîmes finished 10th overall and ranked 4th among the 17 participating IUTs.
The results achieved by teams from the university’s IUTs demonstrate the commitment of university technology programs to the fields of industrial robotics, automation, and production systems. They also illustrate the role these programs play in national efforts related to industrial skills and the technologies of the future.
The Béziers University Institute of Technology (IUT) extends its congratulations to the students who participated in this competition, as well as to the faculty of the Professional Bachelor’s Degree in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, for their dedication to this project.
