At a time when control over data, infrastructure, and software is becoming a strategic issue for businesses and institutions, the Béziers University Institute of Technology is hosting a conference on digital sovereignty.

Organized by the Networks and Telecommunications Department, this initiative aims to raise awareness among students and the general public about the technical, regulatory, and ethical aspects of digital engineering, with a focus on industrial practices and competitiveness.

The event will feature two speakers:

Laurent Jaunaux will discuss the political and economic challenges of digital sovereignty and the concrete actions that can be taken at the local level.

Laurent Vassallo will discuss issues related to fundamental rights and data protection.

The conference will take place on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is primarily intended for students in the Networks and Telecommunications Department, though it is open to students from all departments and the general public.

This event is part of the Year of Engineering
